Michael Phillip Cash’s The Flip

I received this book courtesy of Mr. Cash for the purpose of a fair and honest review.

Overview: Brad and Julie are house-flippers. As a sideline, it isn’t too bad. But this new house isn’t like the others. The Hemmings House has a bad reputation. Nobody seems to want it. Surprisingly enough, Julie loves the place. She even has big plans for it. Yet it seems to be having an odd effect on the couple.

Story Telling: Well, from horror we return to urban fantasy with ghosts. Sounds like fun.

Likes: Brad wanted to make Julie’s dreams of making house-flipping a full-time business. Willie helped out, especially since his dreams involved getting a little nest egg together.

Heather had a good head on her shoulders. And Gerald was certainly devoted.

Dislikes: Okay, Julie was supposed to be married to Brad. This is a partnership, that means you discuss major decisions–say, keeping the house–then make the decision together. Control issues don’t belong in a marriage.

And Tessa couldn’t let go of her proclivities. Sex isn’t the whole of a relationship, nor are people your playthings.

Favorite Character: This time, it would be Heather.

Favorite Quote: Heather tried to warn Julie that she was ignoring the partnership of marriage. “Marriage is all about compromise. Julie you can’t push a guy like Brad around. He’s not your lackey.”

Favorite Scene: It was pretty good to see the meeting between Heather, Julie, and Brad.

Conclusion: This was an okay book. Honestly, the main women–both living and dead–nearly ruined the story for me.
