Martha Gabour Manuel’s Political Treason

I received this book courtesy of Mrs. Manuel for the purpose of a fair and honest review.

Overview: Savannah is back. The trial for the murder of Brian Handy is about to get underway. But just as life seems to be getting back to normal, her stepson is shot while he is on the job in the Capitol. What is going on here? And does it have anything to do with the deaths of some prominent State Legislators?

Story Telling: The narrative didn’t seem to be as strong this time around. We had Savannah’s story, Emile’s story, and Sydney’s story all running at the same time.

Likes: I liked the fact that Savannah was still devoted to Mike. Sydney and his friendships with Mr. George and Timmy was a high point.

Dislikes: I didn’t like how the story ended for Sydney. And some of the more important ‘bridge’ characters (Travis) were not anyone we could either recognize or feel for. And politics seemed to overrun the family angle this time around.

Favorite Scene: My favorite part was Sydney and Mr. George’s escape for a night on the town.

Conclusion: This book wasn’t as good as “Murder on False River.” Perhaps you need to enjoy the political scene in order to like this one. I hope you have better luck.
